Restorative Yoga Class with Reiki

Rescheduled, Date May 5th, 3:00 – 5:00 pm
with Michelle Tamblyn (click for more info), Registered Yoga Teacher and Reiki Master
Restorative Yoga focuses on relaxing the body in resting postures. Rest provides the body an opportunity to renew and heal. Countless studies have proven the physical and emotional benefits.
This is a two-hour special class with assisted stretches, a hands-on class with lots of touch.  It is especially beneficial for those who need to take special care with their bodies because of arthritis or physical limitations, those who have had injuries or are recovering mobility from injury.  Anyone can do this practice, it feels wonderful for people of all fitness levels.  A Reiki Master, Michele will also include Reiki healing in the postures.
Restorative Yoga is done with a body pillow and other props so you are completely supported in each pose.  The poses are held for a longer period of time, allowing the body to relax and restore in the practice.  This can be a healing experience and the Reiki energy will assist in the process.  Please feel free to bring any of your own props if you have them.
The cost is $30 and space is very limitedPre-registration is required.
Please call the office at 954-530-6006 to sign up.

Restorative yoga, as well as other forms of yoga, help to trigger the Parasympathetic nervous system. The PNS is responsible for balancing the body and bringing its response system back into equilibrium. Stimulating the PNS helps to lower heart rate and blood pressure; it helps to healthily stimulate the immune system and keep the endocrine system operating healthily.
When this system gets out of whack, or when the Sympathetic nervous system (SNS) gets over-stimulated, the PNS helps to bring all back in balance.
It is believed that when the PNS is exhausted or under-active, illness pervades. Thus, forms of relaxation, such as yoga and meditation, that help to stimulate the PNS are generally beneficial for overall body health.

Spiritual Movie, March 31st

Toyland.  This short film was directed, co-written and co-produced by Jochen Alexander Freydank and won the 2009 Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film.  The film is fraught with conflict and tension but is all about compassion and humanity!  It will surely provoke interesting discussion.

Set in Nazi Germany in 1942, this short film is the story of an Aryan family and a Jewish family who are neighbors and friends but deportation to a concentration camp is imminent.  Their sons take piano lessons together and when Heinrich asks why they may have to leave soon, his mother invents a story that their friends will go to a new place called Toyland. Heinrich declares he wants to go with them so that he can still be with his friend David.

After they are taken away Heinrich is found missing and his terrified mother begins to search for him. She encounters ridicule and obstacles from Gestapo officers but after she explains her situation and proves she is Aryan, they relent and assist in the search until the last moment before the train must leave.
